This is a suitable open learning space where the Australian Developmental Curriculum is in action. The developmental curriculum is based upon sound realities of children’s development and the appropriate ways of helping to engage them in truly meaningful and relevant strategies. Investigations are the major pedagogical tool for teaching and learning alongside explicit teaching of skills and understandings in literacy and numeracy.
It places the child at the centre of the curriculum and sees children working on their own investigations and projects. Children demonstrate high levels of engagement and are motivated to learn.
Each fortnight we write a Statement of Intent, which details the children’s interests, areas for development, and learning intentions. These are displayed at the entrance of the Learning Centre.
