WELCOME TO 2015
On behalf of members of Selby School Council, a big welcome to 2015. With my kids in Grade 6, this year represents my final year at Selby - a year full of celebrations and tears. I have seen the school rebuild and go from strength to strength during the last six years, thanks to a passionate School Principal, Justin Butler, dedicated and caring staff and a vibrant and engaged parent community.
As such, I feel very privileged to to have been voted as School Council President for this year. Selby School Council consists of enthusiastic members who represent the whole school community. We value collaboration and open, honest and transparent communications and put the students at the heart of everything we do. We welcome all members of our community to attend and/or offer feedback and suggestions as your ideas, concerns and aspirations can help us build a better picture and make better informed decisions together.
This promises to be a terrific year. School Council is keen to consolidate and celebrate what we do well and consider new initiatives to support our kids both now and into the future. This year we have a record number of sub-committees and will need support from our parent community. There are a range of tasks to suit different people's ability and availability - from support with building works and working bees to fundraising, and helping in the class and with community events. Some take longer and others less than an hour, some during school time and others out of the school day and even at home. We invite you to get involved in some small way, and for me, I have found the rewards for being involved in this community to be enormous.
Looking forward to a great year,
